I figure its time for all the closet nerds of the pit to get together and discuss their favorite japanimation series!

I just finished episode 13 of Elfen Lied, I guess thats what made want to make this thread in the first place. That was probably my favorite series by far. The first few episodes are somewhat brutal, but once the plot really starts moving its one of the best stories ever imho. The last two installments are absolutely incredible emotionally.

Other series I particularly enjoy are Blood+, Cowboy Bebop, Yu Yu Hakusho, and, of course, Princess Mononoke.

So what do you guys think? Do you love/hate it? Favorite series? Any recommendations?

Do your worst.

Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro are two of my favorite animated movies.

Series-wise, OUTLAW STAR takes the cake.

I've been meaning to watch Serial Experiments Lain for a while. Still havn't gotten around to it.

I blame bandwidth and the price of dvd's where I live.

The only anime series I've completely watched in it's entirety is Rurouni Kenshin. Other than that, I not crazy about anime.

Its good to have another Miyazaki fan here

Evangelion was okay imo, some of the Gundam spin-offs were better but I can't remember what they are called to save my life.

Gundam Wing and Gundam Seed are amazing, if those are the ones you're talking about.

Elfen Lied is a steaming pile of garbage.

Tenjho Tenge is much better. So is Beck. And School Days. And Basilisk. And Kanon. And Rouroni Kenshin. And Baki the Grappler. And Hatenkou Yuugi. And True Tears. And a whole bunch others.

gah I cannot ****ing seem to get into any anime besides Serial Experiments Lain. They all seem too complex for me and most bore the hell out of me. Can someone reccomend me a good one that doesn't have a hard to follow plot and has a lot of sex and violence on it?
EDIT: His and Her Circumstances. Cute and slightly immature at first but it will really surprise you in the end.

There's been one of these before. Called animez or something like that.

I searched and got a bunch of metal threads and pokeman. It wasn't very thorough so I could easily have missed it.

Yeah! Gundam Seed was it. I love all of those shows simply for the nostalgia. I used to watch them on toonami all the time. I can't actually watch most of them without cringing though. DBZ is just painful.

Death Note > all. I really like short anime series, as you don't usually have to deal with dragging storylines and ****ty fillers. I like manga for the same reason.

Ftfw indeed. It's a lot more interesting than normal porn since it's left to whatever you can imagine.

And School Days.

School Days is awesome, both manga and anime (they're a little different for anyone who doesn't know). Those girls were so creepy.
The only anime I watch are School Days (finished) Gunslinger Girls, and Bleach (sort of quit on that one. Manga is a lot farther and more interesting ATM).
I don't really watch a lot of anime. Manga on the other hand...

EDIT: Beck is also good, but I never watched the anime. Manga is at least 3X farther. The music is really good though.

Too much fanservice, not enough plot, I hate stupid monster anime. You know, the basics.

Basilisk, Berserk, Tenjho Tenge. The Ten Ten manga is better than the anime, though, as are the OVA's. Berserk is pretty much garbage plotwise, but a lot of people like it. Basilisk is one of the best anime I have ever seen.

Also, Ninja Scroll and Golden Boy.

I am a Beck fanboy. Though I got mad when he sold that 61 SG.

EDIT: I mean gave away (stupid kid)

Ha ha, I actually agree with you, minus the stupid monster anime part, I don't understand how that's any more cliche or cheesy than crazy kung fu superpower anime. I guess I was just able to look past its shortcomings as a boobfest.

EDIT:Basilisk sounds damn good. I'll have to check that out.

Outlaw Star is my absolute favorite anime.

I also like Trigun, Gungrave, and Cowboy Bebop a lot.

Well, space anime typically sucks. Blue Gender might be good, and Full Metal Panic! is decent.

Most series are only 12/13 or 22-26 episodes. That's just the way they do it in Japan.

my faves are yuyu hakusho, dbz, and hunter x hunter. hxh is sweet because the manga was written by yoshihiro togashi, of yuyu hakusho fame. i just started watching death note recently and from what i've seen it's very very good. the plot is really intense.

EDIT: oh and how could i possibly forget to mention ruroni kenshin?! it's the ****!
sincerely,
