Drifting - Andy Mckee

Basically it depends whether you use an electric or an acoustic guitar. I'd recommend an acoustic. Just work on where you slap the strings and how hard. There's a sound difference if you slap over the sound hole or over the neck. Just mess around with certain areas and pressures. Also, hit it at a slight angle. Straight hits might not go too well.

I don't know much, but if you're willing to shell out a few bucks you could probably get Chris Broderick to show you via a webcam lesson, which he offers on his site.

Check out MIYAVI
hes a japanese slap guitarist, pure amazing.

Slapping guitar is not an incredibly wide known technique... there are only a few people who can actually do it, compared to the amount of normal guitarists.

Justin King is one aswell

The theory of it is the same as slapping and popping the bass guitar, so check out how to slap and pop a bass guitar. Theres a video on youtube, from a guy called ponco satrio.

Theres that video of Reggie Wooten...But slap guitar isnt really his thing. Ive seen him live, and that video does him NO credit what so ever. I really actually think Reggie Wooten is the best guiarist alive, and anyone who has seen him play will back me up Im sure.

im telling you. listen to "close your eyes and you'll burst into flames" by Kaki King. it made me want to put down my guitar and shut up forever. ESPECIALLY when i saw that the bass line, melody line, slapping, and even the beat......all her, all one guitar, all at once, and all while she's looking at you. then i figured she had to be ugly.....nope.

Can anybody recommend any slap songs that are more, pure 'slap', rather than those soothing acoustic tappings?

Not Justin King, I already know how to play Miyavi's easier song;

But yeh, somewhere around more slapping. I already have some bass slapping and it
seems too common, I wanna shred some fun bass songs.

Suggestions please?
For acoustic / electric, not bass.
I already have a lot of Flea slap for bass down, so I know the basics.

Lol, sorry doode. I didn't wanna get replies such as 'This is just spamming a new thread when there's already one up. Refer to it.' or something along that xD.
But yeh, I just noticed that it was a dead OLD topic.

So I made a new thread;

But pure, something not tapping or harmonic-y, like Miyavi

I would just kind of apply that to a guitar, though it will be a bit harder.
