I'm 14 and looking for a guitar for my birthday. I have a price range of 300 - 350 GBP (580 - 680 USD) I'd use the guitar for mostly practicing and maybe the odd school band performance. And of course the guitar would have to be avaliable from the UK. Any suggestions?

Better than hooked on crack, I suppose. I'd rather know my kids are safe at home beating their meat than out in the world robbing old women for their crack fix.

What a huge coincidence. I have a butthole also.

What's the sound like on it? I'd be using it with a Digitech grunge pedal just to let you know and I usually play the guitar i've got now through my PC.

...what kind of music do you play?

That's a good price range. Be helpful if we knew what you play.

The kind of sound I'd want would be something like lostprophets or maybe hoobastank. Alternate rock mainly.

Well the Hoobastank guitarist uses PRS guitars, http://www.prsguitars.com/ and LostProphets' uses a Telecaster that's in Drop C. Also, I'd recommend grabbing an amp. The Roland Cube series is great, there are multiple models of it, they all have built in effects too, if that's you're sort of thing.

Well I've already got a Telecaster but I might look into the PRS guitars a bit and thanks for the recommendation on the amp.

350 pounds you can get Japenese Fenders, Epi LP's SG's Dot Casino ect. and dozens of good Ibanezs.

go play as many as you can and dont buy the same day, you dont want buyers remorse.

If you already have a Tele (assuming it's Squier), and MUST have a new guitar, then I'd get an Epi Les Paul. The buckers will giver you a wider range of sounds and stuff.

Otherwise, my real advice is to BUY AND ACTUAL AMP!
