I found a peavey mark iv head for 200bucks canadian. Is that a good price for this head and can it get a good punchy punk sound?

You can get a pretty good sound for any genre out of any fairly good head. I'm not sure how much the Mark IV was new, but it sounds like a pretty good deal. And if I remember correctly, Steve Harris used one at the beginnings of Maiden.

Really? thats cool. it's like a 20 year old head so i want to make sure i get a good punch out of it. Like bouncing Souls, alkaline trio, kinda punchy

Unless they made an amp I'm not aware of i think the Mark IV is made by Mesa.

i used a Peavey Mark IV Series amp for about 5 years, playing psyco-billy/punk. it did just fine, and it never failed me. if it's in proper working order, you'll be happy with it.
