Hi, i looked at the tone setting thread, but i have a question about my specific amp.

i have a marshall advanced valvestate 100w amp, and a Digitech Metal Master Pedal, and also various amp effects.

my question-

Can someone suggest some good trivium/avenged sevenfold/ AFI (girls not grey) tones for my amp, and also maybe a good sound for sweeping.

such ways to tell me would be like

Gain-
Volume-
Bass-
Mid-
Treble-
Presence-
Guitars-
Epiphone Les Paul Standard.
Ibanez RG 350mdx

Amps and FX-
Line 6 HD150 by Bogner.
This amp will change your life. I don't use ANY of my other gear.

What do you feel is lacking about your tone right now, and what are you current settings at?

i just think my tone is too muddy or grungy.

right now my tones are at

bass-11 o clock P.M.

treble- 5 oclock

mid -8 o clock

gain-1 o clock
Guitars-
Epiphone Les Paul Standard.
Ibanez RG 350mdx

right Metallica is a given. Personally I like to pretend the bus exploded and killed them all in '86.

Well, there's a couple of things to keep in mind here.

1 - The AVT isn't a good amp. It doesn't sound like a real Marshall.
2 - The Digitech Metal Master isn't a good pedal.
3 - Most EQ's only lower frequencies. They don't boost them. yours included.

That said, you can probably still get a usable tone out of that thing.
Turn up your mids more. I like mine around 3 o'clock. Does your amp have a prescence control? I forget.

mids are great to have up, they cut through the mix more
and just make your tone sound better
i use to play 10, 0, 10 all the time
turned up the mids, and it definitely made an improvement

Mids give your tone body and richness. Mids are where all the good tone is pretty much.

Why is drop D that different?

You complain about your sound being muddy, and you wonder why? Your mids are turned down. Turn them up, and listen as your notes become more distinct. I would turn your prescence up to about 11 o'clock, that's where I like it on my amp.

This man knows his stuff.
Mids up, presence up, bass a little bit down, and boom. Tone.
Signatures are overrated.
