what sort of sound are you looking for? how much are you willing to pay?

Most people will recommend ovedrive pedals if you're getting a tube amp, although you can use distortion pedals similarly and get equally good results if you know how. The boss MT-2 is horrible, and the stock DS-1 isn't much good either, but its good for modification purposes. as far as i know, the digitechs are copies of those boss pedals, but i've only tried the hothead (you do mean hot head, don't you? unless there is a hotrod pedal too) briefly, and thought it was a really nasty sounding pedal.

The hothead is a cheaper version of the hot rod kinda sorta. How about metal muff? I'm willing to pay like 90-100.
