im looking at getting the mesa boogie 20/20 its a power amp?
what else besides a quad do i need for it to run? thanks

Yes it is a power amp. You will need both a preamp and a speaker cab. Also, you can use anything that sends a line-level signal with it. Be it a POD, GT-8, or a GNX3000. The quad, though, is a fantasic preamp and can get the sound of a markII and markIII very easily.

You also might want to look into both a power conditioner (to even out voltage to protect your gear) and a nice effects processor (like a g-major).

You'll need a preamp. Tech 21 do a pretty awesome one (PSA1.1), but mesa dual rectifier preamp is pretty awesome too.
