It's worth the time IMO. Around here all you get is old people ranting about immigrants though.

Do you people think Morse Code is widespread enough of it to be worthwhile to learn?

Yeah, actually it is. My stepbrother has a CB in his car and truck, and he has a handle and everything. It's really fun, you meet alot of funny people, and you can put the speaker on your roof, turn it to PA and scare the **** out of people.

Im not sure if its HAM or CB. Is there a big difference?

Not really useful anymore. SMS, Cellphones, satellite phones... The technology is outdated, except if Megatron attacks your city.

It's awesome if you want to talk to strung-out truckers on enough speed to floor a bull elephant. Or old weirdos.

You sir, are a nice person.

you need a handle (aka, a name) you need to know the slang.

Or, if you're too lazy to read and such, watch old trucker movies. I reccomend Smokey and the Bandit (I-III) and Convoy.

So if you speak normal English on a CB you'll be ostracized by all of the other CB radio users?

that'd be slightly creepy if i didn't find it so amusing.

This sounds more like a HAM setup. you don't really need a book on how to use a CB, its just channel and talk. You may need to know lingo, but is fairly simple. HAM is what you would need a book and equipment to setup.

Heres your free cb lesson.

Turn on unit.

Go to channel 19.

Key up the mic and say, "Breaker 1-9 for a radio check."

When you hear, "10-4 good buddy hear ya loud n clear!"

This concludes our lesson on CB radios.
