my friend has .10's on his rg1570 and i have .09's on my jackson dkmgt.

howcome my strings are much stiffer and harder to bend than his?

His guitar probably has better action. Go to a guitar shop and ask them to check if your guitars neck is as straight as it should be, and to set it right if its not

I did a quick google search and the scale length seems to be the same at 25.5 (It's late, I could be wrong).

Only other thing I can think of is different tuning.

That's odd. I have .10's on my Jaguar (24" scale) and the tension seems higher than that of a 25" scale. Why is that?
