I haven't been playing bass much lately, mostly out of boredom and the fact that I just bought a new guitar. Well, I finally found my inspiration. So, here's the story.

This morning I woke up earlier than usual(before 12) and heard something amazing. My little brother had the TV in the living room up really loud and I was hearing some insane basslines. I was trying to figure out what he was watching and then I heard.... "I'm the map I'm the map I'm the map..." or some **** like that and realized he was watching Dora The Explorer. I kept listening to all the little songs and they ALL have amazing basslines. I think I'm going to pick up my bass again and learn... Dora The Explorer songs... You guys should check them out, the "map song" and "backpack song" are the most complex, check them out on youtube or something.

I was lucky--I miss that show by a few years. But I had my share of Barney songs and Teletubbies so I think I paid my dues BIG time. Oh yeah and then there was the horror known as "Bananas in Pajamas".

But alot of kids songs and general TV music has great bass lines. You tube the old theme song for the show "Barney Miller" for an example.

To be honest, the music from the Cartoon Series Chowder. Besides the intro the music is just awesome!

I love the organ they play.

I'm sorry Chowder is just awesome. period. The music just makes it even more so.

I <3 Schnitzel and in the sing beans episode, he plays upright bass!

You need to get into bass chat someday--I could spend hours talking about Cartoon network odd ball cartoons and anime. And btw--original Japanese anime has some awesome soundtracks with great bass as well. That's a whole thread in and of itself.

Blue's Clues has alot of great basslines, all of which are played on a fretless upright.

fastbear, I loved it, what year did that come out? Must watch that anime. But check out this intro, almost as good if not better

Mmmm, one of the first animes I have wached. Still love it, but haven't wached it in a long time.
Read or Die came out a while ago, I dunno the year, but its not that popular. Though you may have heard of the move/OVA/whatever. The series has gone really unnoticed.

Also, the Cowboy Bebop Theme was inspired by this theme.

Never seen the anime, but I hear its pretty good.

Or our dream job is to draw anime or be seiyuu (how the hell do you pluralize that?)

I love Leiji Matsumoto's work. I got hooked on him with Captain Harlock and Space Battleship Yamato.

And Raul, seiyuu or Seiyū is both plural and singular. I believe you differentiate between plural and singluar by inflection and context.

Anything that Yoko Kanno has done is unbelievable musically. Cowboy Bebop, Macross, Visions of Escaflowne, RahXephon, GitS:SAC, and Wolfs Rain are just a few.

Personally my favorite anime/cartoon related bass part is Yakitori from GitS:SAC.

Of course, anything done by The Pillows, or Seatbelts (Yoko Kanno's band) is awesome. Didn't know there were so many anime fans in this here bass forum.

I just want to second (or third or fourth or whatever) how awesmoe both Cowboy Bebop and Chowder are. I love the music in Bebop, I'll have to listen carefully to Chowder after reading everyone's comments. I didn't think there was anyway I could love that show more, but if the music is as good as you all say, it just might be possible.
