Go to ubuntuforums.org

you will find much more help there than on UG

You will enjoy Ubuntu, have you ever used a debian based OS before?

I put that up yesterday. I might be able to help you with it, I just have to reboot into Ubuntu.

Compiz Fusion can also be a little tricky to get to work with an ATI card... its not a fan of them, from what I hear Nvidia is pretty seamless though.

Open your terminal.
In there you type:
sudo apt-get install Compizconfig-settings-manager
Type your password etc.
Then do the same, but switch compizconfig-settings-manager with fusion.
Now it should work.
You will find the options under preferences.

@ The McManus:
I got a ATI card on this computer, and didn't encounter any problems. Might be different for others though.

Bah, I misspelled and did something wrong:
sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager
sudo apt-get install emerald
Just copy paste those two and it should work.

EDIT:
If that doesn't work, then you could try this tutorial.
