Ok, here's the deal. I'm going to be getting a 5150II/6505+ w/ either a 1960, Mesa Rectifier or Avatar 4x12 cab, either way it'll be a 4x12 w/ V30s. I want to know what things to use that will give me the best possible live sound when we start playing shows. My first thought was a 10 band EQ in the loop and/or maybe a good OD in between guitar and amp (obviously). I'll probably invest in a good, sturdy cable b/c I don't want anything cutting out on me during a show. Is there anything else that you guys can think of?

EDIT: Are wireless systems worth the money? I'll be going crazy w/ impulsive head banging and such.

Your amp's EQ and a good sound tech.

Bad sound guy or poorly EQ'd amp could completely suck you out of the mix.
A dwarf might hear you. What then?

EQ on you're amp is very important. and a ****ty soundguy doesnt help.

Don't scoop your mids, either. I know it sounds more metal and all, but unless you've got a sound tech that can EQ things just right, you'll get lost no matter how loud you are.
Using the OD as a mid or volume boost for the solos (if any) can help make things sound really smooth, too.

I wouldn't dream of scooping my mids. My eq depending on the amp usually is somewhere around 5/4/6, so I guess I kinda scoop it but nothing crazy.

What about a wireless system. Do you all think it's worth it or should I just get a quality 30ft cord.

I'd stick to a good quality cable, wireless isn't anything more than a gimmick unless you're playing massive venues.
