Are there any high end model Ibanez 7-strings with a hardtail. Besides the Munky signature. I want a hardtail but something maybe with a better build than a 7321.

Besides the Xiphos 7 and the Apex, there's the used RG7421's and RG7621's.

Other then that, you'd have to order from Japan.

Japan has:
RG7EXEFX2 (hard-tail, emg 707's)
RG7EF2 (hard-tail, 707's, 27" scale)
and numerous other J-Customs

To be honest, it'd be far easier to just get an RG1527 and block the trem.

but then you wouldn't get the qualities of a fixed bridge. i don't like tremolo systems myself and i prefer fixed bridges, maybe the TS is the same way.

The same thing bud, they just shortened the name. Both are the Exact same guitar, they just changed the name for it this year on the Japan site.
I recommend the Xiphos as a proud owner of one, but their's lots of nice MIJ ones like the 7421 and 7621 as stated above. And Ibanez is going to release a 7 string RGA next year according to Tak over on Jemsite, so I'd figure they're gonna have a fixed bridge on it like all of the other RGA's available to the public. Only time will tell though. I say for now, Xiphos ftw.

You sure? After checking Ikebe-Gakki's inventory again, it shows the RG7EF2 as having a 27" scale and the RG7EXEFX2 as having a 25.5" scale.

I know for sure that the EXFX2 is 27, I remember checking it out with the members at SS.org. I ran it by them about the RGEF2, they told me it was the same thing, different name for 08 :P

Yeah, it's because they take their info from Ibanez' site, and Ibanez made an error with last years site using the same measurements for every RG guitar, so Ikebe used the same info as given. Then this year they corrected it, and Ikebe again followed along.

What qualities exactly do you want of the hard tail bridge? The sustain issues with double locking tremolos is mostly myth. Yes there is a slight decrease in sustain but its so slight you dont notice it at all.

My Ibanez 7421 XL was a favorite for a while until I cracked the body. Great overall tone, and smooth low action. Just watch out for the 27 inch scale, the thing is HUGE!!! I have smaller fingers too, so it was a challenge, also sometimes uncomfortable.

New, I would go with the Xiphos. Even though I haven't played the 7 string version, the six was enough to make me play Ibanez again.
