As the thread title says, I am going to check out a used Valve Jr. Combo today for $75. I've never had a tube amp before and don't want to buy something that is broken or a lemon or whatever. Are there things that I should check for to make sure I am not getting ripped off?

Look at it, make sure there's no obvious defects,
Look at the valve - make sure it's not defected (like it's got a big black spot or something on it - this means it's blown),
Turn it on - make sure that the valve glows orange,
Try it. Play it at all volumes, including cranked to make sure it doesn't cut out or something for whatever reason.

'Bout it I should think.
Good luck

For the best tingle, use Original Source mint. That shit feels amazing on your balls.
