Joe's Apartment.
If you haven't seen it, it's about this guy who lives in a seedy apartment with thousands of all singing, all dancing cockaroaches, who are constanty going into these massively choreographed song and dance routines.

Lantana

Not a comedy, but very emotional, and I felt uplifted at the end.

Intermission-
My single favorite film of all time. Basically, it follows the lives of several residents of Dublin for a few days, the main tie between the characters is their relationship to a central character, a petty thief. It's all very well written, the characters are very well fleshed out, and I'd be genuinely surprised if you couldn't find one to relate to. (Throughout the films there are themes of dissatisfaction with one's lot in life, unrequited love, "worthiness" of one's self coming into question, revenge and redemption, and all sorts of stuff, really.) A very up-lifting movie, with a bit of comedy thrown in. Definitely look into it.

Stranger Than Fiction-
Someone mentioned it earlier, and it bears repeating. Will Ferrell's best movie. It bugs me that people bother to put out movies like STF, that have a different approach to storytelling, especially for the main actor, and it goes completely unnoticed in favor of retreads of the same character he played on SNL. It's basically about a very neurotic, lonely IRS worker who, one day, finds that his life is being narrated, and that he's a character in an upcoming novel, whose actions and thoughts are scripted ahead of time. One of the most underrated comedies in recent years, and although it is fully a comedy, it's more, like Intermission "up-lifting" than hilarious.

An honest verse of longing
Or a simple song of hope...
