I have a Epiphone Les Paul and a Marshall MG100HDFX amp. Can someone give me some suggestions on how to get his sound from the appetite era and the UYI I and II era?

If you want Slash's tone then go into a corporate studio and play with their library of effects and amps, then find Slash, chop of his and your fingers, and sew his fingers to your hand. That's the only way you'll get his exact tone.

Settings thread and new amp.

crank your mids, use you neck and roll the tone back. As far away as you will be, that will be the closest you will get with what you have.

I would rather these threads, then the "I refuse to search so I will ask again", 100 times a day thread, "Which amp" thread.

And to the TS, unless you can find a way to install tubes in the MG and get them to saturate, you will not even get close to slashes tone.

Ok, I could understand if someone had to use the searchbar and find a thread from last year or so to find a Slash settings thread, but good god. This one was right on the front page. It clearly states in the title, and I quote...

"Noobs want SLASH'S sound? HERE it is."

Now, this seems like a good thread for you for a few reasons.

1) "Join date: June 2008". You are thusly a noob.

2) "Roxas111- Slash Wannabe". You want the Slash sound.

So, based off of these facts, You are a noob that wants the Slash sound. Seems like that's the thread for you.

I agree. It could look like a little piece of paper or a computer or something, with that smilie just tearing it up with it's little death gun of infinite ammo.

It would look something like that, but with the aforementioned smilie for the thread.

i know i dont have the right amp i just want something that will get me closer to his sound not perfectly
#23
^A new amp

The only thing I could really think of would be new pickups. And of course, you have to tweak your EQ a bit (well, it's a hard amp to EQ, so alot of eqing)

Honestly you cant close with that amp. Nothing short of Sash himself playing though it, would make any improvement.

Crank the mids
don't use to much gain
use your neck pup with tone rolled back
and hope for the best.

I lol'ed. Terrible amp. Even Slash said he couldn't find that AFD tone. Like your gonna do it with an MG
#27
Also you need to worry more about his style then his tone. You could play on his own equipment and not sound like him.

ahhh here i come after a long ass day of bagging groceries, cleanin floors and running registers to find that (what i thought was) my oh-so-easy-to-spot-by-noobs thread is being ignored by everyone that NEEDS to read it and being read by everyone who actually don't really need it that much.

ahh i guess i'll post in it so that it comes on the front page and this guy sees it.

all i can tell you is don't expect anything like slash's sound from that MG. you want a british voiced tube am----- what am i doing?! READ MY THREAD PLEASE.

and people wonder why i was so irritated in that thread LOL. not trying to spark emotions again but this almost seems like an appropriate 'told ya' moment. alrite TS, go check my thread alright?

If you don't believe me there was a thread here. Unfortunatly I have no idea which one
EDIT: Oh, I think I see what you mean Ninja23. I meant he couldn't find it after he recorded it.

oh and slash was correct in saying he couldn't find that tone again. it's the legendary 'Stock #39' amp that wasn't recognized here on UG until i researched and found out (not wanting to sound cocky i'm just saying). until i found that out everyone, including myself, was assuming it was the Marshall Silver Jubilees that was famous for that sound. that was the sound of UYII albums however. anyways, go check the thread, TS!!
