this kinda seems to be the life of your guitar neck so i'm just curious....

lets say that someone buys a brand new guitar and plays 3 hours a day and gigs twice a week
how long is the average fret life before he has to have em fixed up?

never the more you play the better it becomes
i mean there are people who have played the same guitar for over 30 years for about the same if not more time that you are and they have never had to get work done

a very very long time+ depends on style of play
like speed metal will be considerably shorter than techno:p

A good while.

It never hurts to have your frets dressed/crowned every 5 or 6 years though.

Unless you bought a vintage what-ever from the 60's that was played every day for the last 30 years, you shouldn't have to worry about fret life.

Worrying about fret life on a newish guitar is like worrying about alzheimers (sp?) when you start your freshman year at high school.

hey guys, sorry to hijack the thread but...

Ive lately been experiencing short memory lapses and I'm wondering if this is an early sign of Alzheimers

By the way, I am a freshman in high school...

Better than hooked on crack, I suppose. I'd rather know my kids are safe at home beating their meat than out in the world robbing old women for their crack fix.

What a huge coincidence. I have a butthole also.
