I'm not even going to look at it, and I guarantee that no one here will agree with it. With something as subjective as music, it's impossible to create a list that will please everyone.
I simply cannot take this god-awful place anymore. Goodbye to all the good people here. The rest can fuck off.

#4
no one is ever going to agree on anything like this ever. you just cant change the way people think.
#5
I'm just thanking them they had Tommy Bolin on it.

Everyone I know doesn't know him!

Dimebag should be further up the list and Hammett should be further down.

But again they're only opinions
#8
they might not be "rock enough" but i think matt bellamy and jack white deserve a place and i agree with a few yeah nick drakes at like 120 which is quite odd even though he is excellent
#10
Definitely don'T agree on some of the places. Vinnie Moore, Doug Aldrich and Andy Timmons are among my top 30 and they are lower than the 90th place on their list.

Edit: Santana 28th ??! Top 10 AT LEAST
My gear:
-Ibanez JS 6000 Custom w/ 11-48 gauge
-Ibanez FGM 400BB w/ 10-46 gauge
-Peavey 6505 2x12 Combo
-MXR Phase 90
-Boss DD-6 Digital Delay
-Morley Wah/Volume Pro Series II
-Boss CS-3 Compression Sustainer
-Gator G-Bus 8
-Xotic BB Preamp

these seem to be the most influencial rock guitarists, not the most skilled, and is out of place sometimes.

jimi hendrix as first? i don't think he can even be classified as a virtuoso guitarist of musician in my opinion. (low technical skill, low theory knowledge)

exactly!! because how do you class the greatest guitarist? its all on the opinion of what type of music you like etc.

first few are so overated in my opinion

I don't think its like 1-100 and as the number gets greater, the worse the player, I would imagine the 100 that had the most impact in no order. Obv there are many missing from everyone's eyes.

hahah, if you look all the way down to 200 you'll see James Hetfield at the very end.... hahahah... Its a pretty good list.

the list should be be based on technique, style, ability, innovation and such... but yeah, jimi shouldnt even be top 10, he was a visionary, but he wasnt that amazing... the best thing to come from his playing was stevie ray vaughn

god damn...jimi hendrix was NOT the world's greatest guitar player

Yeah, he's an easy "go-to" guy on a top 100, no one can argue with him because he was awesome. Not many people dislike hendrix's music, as opposed to other bands, so he often is thrown in at #1.
#27
Well that list isnt very decent, horrible almost gotta say, I dont have anything against those guys but , well, yeah never mind.. I wonder how big of a fight we could get here if everyone in UG reads that, no Alexi Laiho in the list gives me a headache though, but maybe hes too young to get to it
#28
buckethead and marty friedman and PAUL GILBERT should be higher. steve vai pwns satch (honestly, he does). they are actually, like someone already said, the most influential, not the most skilled.

and i dont know why everyone says hendrix is the best. it makes me angry. he opened a door for guitar playing skills, but a lot of people pwn him nowadays, and he keeps high on the lists

also, michael romeo should go higher. no alexi laiho makes me mad.

If it didn't contradict my stance in this thread, I'd be arguing with you very violently right now.

yeah i dont listen to his music but i know hes a good guitar player
he had a lot of flare and was an inspiration, that's about it
but if thats what this list was going by, steve vai should be number 1

and no chris broderick on this list?

No, Hendrix should be on there twice. Once with The Experience and again with Band of Gypsys. Christ, everyone should know that.

Edit: Number 16, nice to see Keaggy getting some respect.

i disagree with the first part of your post

also, jake e lee should be way higher if this list goes from best to worst
#37
i just skimmed it and it seems ok with me. evh is 1 imho and johnny rzeznik shoulda been on there.
...because the last thing the world needs is another metal guitarist.

Me.

My band.

I like Fall Out Boy. I don't like you.

Okay, you're right. Dimebag deserves the number one slot

Not to mention your opinion isn't worth dick since you admitted yourself you don't listen to much of his music and you seem to be convinced he has "low technical skill." You've been listening to Purple Haze too much my friend.

I agree about Jake E. Lee, however.

well, ill just show you some videos of their as kicking.
