I came across this rig today in an ad:

Marshall JCM900 Cab 4x12. Its in rough shape, and the 16 ohm input is broken. The tolex is ripped up, but with less than 50 dollars this could be restored back to 100%. It has been previously owned by Spencer from Attack In Black, and Mark Vida. Both are two good guitar players, and I can only assume this cab is the reason why they are good. I'll consider any serious offer over 300$.

Fender 1970s Bassman head (modded by morris mods) - Great head, needs new tubes. I'll consider any serious offer over 400$.

I'd say it's a pretty good deal for 700 bucks altogether.
What do you think?

don't know that much about that thar fender head but looks interesting so bump for ya.

Yeah, it's nothing special, only one of the most well known amps...ever.

TS, that sounds like a good deal. Though, I'd see if you could get him to have the cab fixed and add the $50 onto the price. Can't be too careful, y'know.

Are silver faced Bassman-s any good?

^I tried an SF bassman. It was pretty nice stock. Kind of flat sounding, but if it was modded/new tubes got installed, i'm sure it would great.

300 is a great deal for 1960, beat up or not

Not really, I see them all the time for $350-400 in perfect condition.

That cab is worth $250, max, in that condition.

The price for the head is decent though.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

right Metallica is a given. Personally I like to pretend the bus exploded and killed them all in '86.

I'm familiar with the Bassman. My uncle has one. Just not familiar with the Morris Mod and I wanted to make sure this thread got seen before it drifted away into the oblivion of the 4th page.

my SF bassman is "cool." they dont really sound "good." its just a really cool tone. not bad but doesnt have the elusive "it" that we all search for.

I don't use ebay. Plus I wouldn't buy a 4x12 non-locally cause they cost crazy amounts to ship. Go on Harmony-Central or Craig's List, there's probably at least 2 or 3 on there and easily in that price range.
