I was listening to a couple of their old stuff today, and honestly they're not bad at all. But im not to sure if they're punk, but they're ska. But yeah, what do you guys think of em? I think Gwen Stefani's solo stuff is horrible.
#2
I like them every once in a while, but I ain't no holla back girl.

I like No Doubt. There arn't many really popular well known bands that are really funky. I quite like Stefani's solo music as well.

First two CDs were awesome. Tragic Kingdom was their transition into pop and only had like 10 seconds of ska and that was the intro for Walking in the Spiderwebs. Which in the music video they borrowed clothes from Reel Big Fish.

Gwen Stefani has a great voice for ska but not nearly as good as Monique Powell.

I love all forms of Rock 'n' Roll, past and NOT present
#13
Please tell me you guys are kidding.

No Doubt was once a great ska band. And Gwen Stefani is no babe. Shes turned into a hack.

I'm totally neutral towards No Doubt but I cannot stand Gwen's solo work. They were very popular in middle school if I recall correctly.

i just remember my sister playing alot when i was younger and since then i love their riffs and songs. Gwen is just retarded with what she is doing now. She ****ing sang with Bradley Nowell from Sublime and now she goes to this solo ****. Bradley would have a mega facepalm now.

i love no doubt, i even like most of gwens first solo album, havnt heard the 2nd one but i really didnt like the singles

Monique Powell is a poor mans gwen, her band was worse, her solo career failed & her clothing line failed. she is epic fail

and regarding bradley, he loved all music hed probably have featured on at least one of gwens solo songs. I doubt hed even care about gwen "selling out" considering he said he did heroin to increase his creativity so sublime be noticed by major labels

I love No Doubt. One of my favourite bands. Tragic Kingdom is a wicked album, I was actually just listening to it today. As for Gwen's new music, I enjoyed the first album, I think she still had her spunk when she made it, but she definitely fell out with the second album.

Still love her though, because when I think Gwen Stefani, I think Tragic Kingdom and not The Sweet Escape.

I want whatever it is you're smoking.

You think Brad Nowell would be on one of Gwen Stefanis albums? There's no way.

If there's one thing I know its my Orange County ska. I saw No Doubt play at the local mall 9 years old.

I have to tell you that this band lost it with Tragic Kingdom. The crowd was not the same at all. Their shows got progressively worse in the sense of crowd authenticity, dancing-skanking, attendance of rude boys or anyone that would remotely understand what music they're playing.

First two CDs awesome. Tragic Kingdom was their sell out to pop and commercialism before Gwen Stefani even sold out.

Good shout mate! Save Ferris were really good fun and Monique had such a strong voice. That being said, it's hard to pick out differences between her and Gwen since they both sound pretty similar.

I really enjoy Tragic Kingdom, even if they were leaving behind a lot of their ska sound. Good band.

And "The Sweet Escape" is one of my all time favourite guilty pleasures.

No Doubt was good, she has a great voice and shes pretty damn sexy in my opinion. Her solo work is god awful though. And im not just saying that because its way different than No Doubt. Im saying it because im pretty sure the rest of you agree with me when I say its just mainstream garbage put out to make a quick buck. I cant stand Holla back girl.

If by selling out you mean pursuring a dream (of doing a dance record) she had before she was famous ... then she totally sold out

I like No Doubt. All 'eras' of ND have something different and fun to offer. But that's just me.

I don't know about albums but I've seen many youtube videos of him as a guest singing with her at shows.

No Doubt is my favourite band. Have loved them since I was six years old. I went to see Gwen Stefani last year and she personally said 'I'm coming out of the dance phase and No Doubt is back on track' or something along those lines. And the whole crowd roared. I'm sorry Gwen. You belong in No Doubt, not in the Sweet Escape.

Plus, isn't there a news article on UG regarding ND 'going back to ska'? Only saw the headline, but if it's true, then that's great. Personally can't wait till the new album!!

I need some folks around our punk circles one day while we were hanging out talking about Gwen Stefani might have gone solo to boost No Doubts career once she rejoined them. This was when she first went solo and did her first album we were throwing out the idea that she was going back to No Doubt and that was the plan.

Not saying its true just a discussion I've had on several occasions.

Don't you just love to picture this...

Gwen Stefani sitting down possibly at the studio or home and having a strong writing session. She has a pencil and paper in front of her and shes jotting away and all the sudden BOOM! Like a stroke of lightning the light bulb went off in her head.

' I GOT IT! ' she exclaims. Gwen begins to pencil in some lyrics on the paper and when shes done she pauses and stares at the piece of paper like the paper is a gift from God. Gwen takes a step back and is marveled by her geniousness. And out of her mouth...

' B.A.N.A.N.A.S. This **** is bananas. BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!! '

She seriously looks at that like a piece of art. Like a mother fucking piece of ART! Thats what music is right?

I don't know about you but thats the funniest shit I've ever heard man.
