so anyway, i've been toiling about lyurics sites for ages now and not turned anything up. Im looking for a song i heard a few nights a go on the radio. The chorus has the line" I could've been/I could've been/I could've been someone" and one of the verse was kinda like "you see more of your friends than you do our kids" or words to that effect. It was kinda folksy-rock ballad anfd im sure ive heard it before. Any help?

I wanted to be helpful, but I couldn't find the song you're looking for.

I did find a song with the line, "See more of your friends than you do of your kids."

So I figured I'd suggest it: 'Fast Car' by Tracy Chapman?

I dunno, I've never heard of it, but maybe that'll help.

EDIT: Beaten to it.
and this moment keeps on movin'
we were never meant to hold on.
