by making a drawing of the wiring as it is now.
this may be of great value to you later, even if you use a different wiring scheme.

things like colour codes on the HBs if they're multiwire models will be important.
throw that info away, and you'll only be guessing if you try to use those pickups again for any reason. Same for the switch.

Or take a couple of pictures like I did.

Most of the manuals for any pickups that you buy have common wiring configurations.

Dimarzio has some scans on their website.

lol, i already started takin it apart, i do have a couple pictures of my insides, from both angles, so it'll probably be ok

what pickups would you guys recommend for high output, passive pickups for metal?

sorry if im sounding like a noob here...but i was thinking dimebuckers, or dimarzios de-activators.

and another thing...would it be possible to mod my guitar for active pickups?

It's called a ground.
And it keeps your stuff from blowing up.

Please do not insinuate anything sexual from that.

Try putting your penis in an electrical outlet. You'll understand.

Diverts eletricity from your pickups to bridge incase of emergency.
Mean your hand get a little shock instead of your pickups turning into stove burners.
