so I'm currently recording on my friends Zoom 16 track recorder. I want to do a backwards vocal track in a song but I don't know how to do that. How would I be able to make a backwards message in a song?

I believe that could be classed as subliminal messaging.

Which happens to be illegal.

Since when? Nothing has happened as a result of it, with the exception of media hype from the Bible Belt.

In other news you could just say the words you intend to say backwards, couldn't you?

well, is there any way to just record it normally, then somehow, flip it and play it reversed?

Yea, you can do that with stuff like Audacity.
I'm not sure about the Zoom, though. Never used one.

you are wrong. Artists can do whatever the **** they want with their music, especially people who record in there basement.

is the zoom thing an analog recorder?
If its a digital recorder, to your computer, then you can take the one track and edit it with a different program that will reverse the track.

Reversing audio is easy to do with pretty much any recording/editing software. Audacity is free, and has a reverse function.
There is poetry in despair.

Yeah, just record it normally and use audacity (Effect menu then click Reverse) to reverse it. After you figure it out, import Stairway to Heaven and Blackened, you'll hear some cool backtracking on both those (spoken and guitar, respectively).
