Hey all,

Got rid of my Laney so I have about 800 bucks kicking around. Anyways, I need advice on my next amp choice. I'm trying to choose between a Marshall 3203 and a 50 watt Marshall JCM 800 combo.

It's really a toss up for me because they're both great amps. I'll need to by a cabinet if I go for the 3203 though.

Thanks in advance.

You know the 3203 has an SS pre amp, don't you?

Yeah, is that a problem?

It's not like it sounds terrible because it has solid state componants you know.

Oh I know, It's just I'd generally prefer a valve pre amp, no worries.

This one fooled me when I played it initially.

I might consider getting a Rectoverb combo as well.

Traynor YCV50 Blue

No thanks!

The only Traynor I'd buy is an old Bass Master head or the Guitar Mate combo amps.

JCM then

Yeah, I think it would probably be one of the better choices. I'm really leaning towards that one.

Is it the 2204 single channel?

It's a 2204 with the Drake Transformer.

Is 800 your max price point?

Get the 2204, the Drake transformer JCM800s are highly sought after. If you can get it for $800, then that's a great deal.

Not sure why people are still suggesting Mesas or Traynors when the guy already has two amps hes narrowed it down to. The vertical input JCM800s are amazing amps.

Something tells me he would've already gotten the amp by now considering this thread is two months old.

I have an AOR, fool.

And mine is currently dead.

That's what I meant not the TS. What happen to the Laney? I just sold mine. I liked it plugged into my 4x8" better than the stock 12" so I decided to just get a head.
