I've often heard the terms "wet" and "dry" used when referring to effects and pedals and chains. What do these terms mean?

Wet and dry refere to the signal I believe.

Wet = Effect on
Dry = Effect off/orig. signal

The "dry" signal is the signal coming from the guitar, the "wet" signal is what comes from the pedal. 50% wet means that half the sound is the guitar and the other half is from the effect.
I don't give a shit if you listen to me or not

ah i see, the "wet-ness" is how much of the effect is in use?
