So, I've had my Viper for about a year and a half and i'm trying to decide whether i should upgrade or not. I heard good things about the epi SG 400, and some jacksons as well.

My price range is about $200-400, I play mostly Hard rock (GNR, AC/DC), a little Heavy Metal(Sabbath, Priest), and some megadeth from time to time.

Gear
ESP LTD Viper 100 FM (JB in bridge, SH-2 in neck)
Marshall MG15CDR
Pro co Vintage Rat.

Any comments, advice, or better suggestions would be appreciated.

New amp fella, that MG isn't doing much justice for your guitar. Look into a Peavy King combo 212 or a Roland Cube 30X.

Gibson Les Paul Studio
Fender MIM Stratocaster
Yamaha Pacifica 112v
Epiphone G-400

The g400 is a great guitar. And i have never played on an mg but the behringer v-tone is a nice amp. I know there are a of of ppl who would disagree but it is really nice. For the price behringer and bugera amps are about as good as you get.

definitely get a new amp. unless ofcourse u dont like you viper. if u want an amp go with a Crate GTD 65 (combo amp) its $160 and louder than any other amp under $250. if u want a guitar try a EPI goth SG ($300), or goth LP. both are fairly good and seem comfortable.

The Epi Les Pauls are Great, and their SG's are okay, but for 2- 4 hundred... Id say spend an extra 300 and get an Epi Custom LP. I have an Epi Junior, an Epi LP Standard plus, and an Epi LP custom. I was lucky to get my Custom for 500 but its an amazing guitar. Normally around 500-700 on musicians friend. you honestly cant go wrong with it.

Also a tip. Buy B-stock. Its helpful and oftentimes the imperfections really arent all that big of a deal.

New Guitar : Epiphone SG-400 is great, I've got one, it can play everything I want, from Stevie Ray Vaughan to Opeth.

New Amp : Roland Cube 30, amazing amp, does cleans well, and has about 6 different levels of distortion, so you would be able to find one that suits whatever you're playing. It has Chorus, Phaser, Flanger, Tremolo, Reverb and Delay built in.

I'd suggest a new amp, but for $400 you could a nice little tube amp.

I haven't tried these, but I've heard they're decent, and they'll for sure kick the crap out of an MG, and your current guitar will sound a lot better thru it.
