Could anyone please help me? I am very confused on this tab. It's the intro to Green Day's "Holiday." What do these X's mean and how do I play them? If anyone could help, I'd really appreciate it.

hold your index finger over the strings to deaden theM, whilst playing the note on the A and the b strings.
