So i have the Vox ad30vt valvetronix and its a fair amp, but i wanna go all tube so started looking at various tube amps.
Should i buy a small 5W tube amp for home use or should i go all the way and get a larger (30W-50W) tube amp? I already have the valvetronix for practice...
i dunno what i should do! help?

my budget would be round...$600 CAN? i play classic rock, hard rock, classic metal, low to mid gain genres. Good cleans are preferable

For a 50 watt amp an attenuator would be anywhere from 150 to 300 dollars.

+1 to the traynor, but if you're not gigging then why not stick with what you have? The ycv50 is gonna be pretty loud for bedroom practicing.
I don't give a shit if you listen to me or not

yeah, i was thinking about a 5w tube combo or something of that sort, so i can have tube tones at a bedroom volume level

Having doubts about the Traynor? You've had a couple of threads about this..well, this and top wrapping.

I don't think you need an attenuator. If you need super quiet levels, use your Vox.
If you are willing to get good tone at about shouting levels of conversation, use the Traynor.

Thanks man, i just don't want my parents screaming at me to turn it down

I'd say keep the Vox for low volumes and home practicing.

Get a bigger tube amp for when you gig, jam, etc.

Well, cranking a 5 watt tube amp is still going to be fairly loud, a bit above "shouting" levels of volume.

So really, it's not all to different with have a Traynor set to 1 or 1.5 on the dial, except the Traynor will be able to handle a band/jamming with a drummer/gig situation.
