I don't have tiny fingers, so I can't fit my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd finger on the 2nd, 3rd, and fourth string all nice and evenly...My first finger is near the top of the 2nd fret, therefore when I hit the fourth string it doesn't ring out properly.

Bar it with one finger...

Ah, BRILLIANT! Man It will be hard as hell to play clean while barring it though..Like let's say I'm switching chords fast and then I need to quickly switch to the a barred A chord...I'll probably need to practice this chord alone now for the next couple hours so i can succesfully play a nice clean A chord.

Play the barre chord version at the 5th fret.

If you can't pull that off, just never play an A chord?

Lawl my fingers are skinny. A chord is the easiest chord. Whenever someone who has never touched a guitar before tells me "Teach me something", I teach them an A chord and they usually get it.

With all the fingers on the 2nd fret? :O

It's pretty easy, actually. Just practice.

Sometimes I play it with my second, third, and fourth fingers instead to make it easier if I'm going to switch to a B barre or something. Try that, it might be a little easier.

i have big fingers and i can do it just fine. dont put all ur fingers right on top of one another, but some behind the others. i know ur supposed to try and keep ur fingers as close to the fret as u can, but if u practice and push really hard with the fingers that u have put farther away from the fret wire then ull be able to do it.

I do it this way I find it lets you move into different chords a bit easier, you can also barre it, seriously just do it whichever way you want and with time it will be easy regardless what your fingers are like.

5th string open
2nd finger on E(4th string)
1st finger on A(3rd string)
3rd finger on C#(2nd string)
1st string open

yes, i also do this, its much easier if u use the second, third, and fourth fingers. in fact, thats how most people i know play it and thats how the book i have on learning guitar says to play it.

i think you mighta misunderstood what people were telling you. Don't play the A barre chord, just lie your finger down across the second fret
haha no need to practice for hours
#27
Wait some guy is telling me to play it like this:

first finger is on 3rd string
second finger above it on the fourth string
and third finger is below it on the second string.

Do this:

e|------0------------------
b|------2------------------ = Ring Finger
g|------2------------------ = Index Finger
d|------2------------------ = Middle Finger
a|------0------------------
e|--------------------------

i have big fingers and that is the way I have always played on open A Major Chord

here's what you do

e|--x-
b|--1-
g|--1-
d|--1-
a|--0-
E|--x-

don't hit the strings with the xs on them
