in all seriousness go to newegg.com and buy all the parts you need, then assemble it yourself, buying pre-built machines is for losers.

a little but not totally more for music recording and holding a **** load of media files

Normally I'd be willing to help, but you called me a nerd. That hurts .

So instead I shall recommend you the finest in computer engineering from December 1992, the Amiga A1200. It has "great-ass" sound and "kick-ass" graphics. What more could you want? It's also "fast ass hell" (yes, TS did say that).

I don't really like being called a nerd... but I'll suck it up because I don't wanna sound whiny like the rest of the kids here... so,

go to Newegg.com and build a custom computer, it will be better and cheaper than anything in store

How many of you saying that "building you own computer is easy" have actually done it and are not spewing what someone else said out your ass?

I built my computer... it is really easy.. A lot of it is color/shape coded... You might wanna do a little research so you don't wire the power wrong and fry it but it really is easy.

EDIT:

Just get one of each and make sure they are all compatible, then put together-->
Computer Case
-Hard Drive(s)
-Power Supply
-CD/DVD Drive
-Mother Board
--RAM (The thin funny looking sticks)
--GPU (Graphics Card)
--CPU (Processor)

I might be forgetting something but w/e those are the main parts

It's easy.

1. Obtain parts.
2. Put CPU and heatsink in motherboard
3. Put RAM in motherboard
4. Put standoffs in case
5. Put motherboard in case
6. Put hard drive and DVD drive in case
7. Connect drives with SATA cables
8. Put graphics card in PCI-e slot
9. Put power supply in case
10. Connect power cables to everything
11. Connect front panel (power button, USB, etc.)

That pretty much sums it up. All you need is a screwdriver. You can't put things in the wrong place. The only way you can screw up is if you forget to plug something in, but that's easy to fix.

Does every thing just pop together though?

Yes.

I've built my own, more than once, and half of the ones in my office, all of the parts more or less just snap together or screw on in a very logical way, it's not hard.

Yup Yup! The RAM and GPU might take a little force to pop into place but that's just because they are a tight fit.

The only challenge is getting the wiring right, most of that is shape/slot coded so that's easy.

Connecting the Case Cables (on/off/reset/LED) to the mobo is annoying though, tiny tiny little pins that have to be connected perfectly one by one... your mobo manual should tell you which pins are for what cable though.

Why do you need to use "ass" to describe everything you want it to be? I just realized you did that in both posts you made in this thread for EVERYTHING. And did you type your posts as fast as you can, not caring if you made mistakes? Seriously, it took me a long time to figure out what you are saying.
