I got this idea from the 60 years old thread... namely darkstar & the virtuoso... what would you like your playlist to be at your funeral.
Try and relate it to your life, death, and being remembered.... either by track titles or the songs itself and how it relates to you.

You only have 5 tracks. GO!

1. Death-Destiny
2. Atheist-Unquestionable Presence
3. Anata-Released When You Are Dead
4. Pestilence- Out of the Body
5. Opeth- Black Rose Immortal

and as the people are leaving the procession....

... Vivaldi's Winter I or Jason Becker's Air.

I actually had a bit of a think about this very topic a year or so ago, I haven't put much thought into it since, so I'll just put down what I can think of now .

1. Solitude - Iced Earth (Acoustic song) into
2. Funeral - Iced Earth (Instrumental, obviously a appropriately named song )
3. Echos - Warning (I guess I would have to do a song off "Watching From A Distance", it just has so much overbearing emotion, it would fit with a Funeral / losing of someone. I actually listened to it on the way to my Great-Auntie's Funeral just before Christmas last year )

1. "My Hope, the Destroyer" by My Dying Bride
2. "Shades of Grey" by Biohazard
3. "Chapel of Ghouls" by Morbid Angel
4. "Through Osiris' Eyes" by Pagan's Mind
5. "For You" by My Dying Bride

One of these is a joke

Jesus what a morbid thread.

Id have to say 'You're Old, Please Die' by Anal C*nt played 5 times over. It captures the essence of who I was as a person.

Opeth - Weakness
Agalloch - The Lodge

#13
Sorskogen- Mordet i Grottan

Opeth- Godhead's Lament
Alcest- Souvenirs d'Un Autre Monde
Porcupine Tree- Halo
Wintersun- Death and the Healing

Vader - Final Massacre.

THE WINNER IS THE DEATH!!!!

Dyer's Eve is awesome, and has an abnormally large penis, which doesn't act as any hinderance to his everyday life despite its freakishly large size.

^To MetalMessiah: haha nice...

I think I'd go for mostly intrumental tracks...

1. Metallica- Orion (my fist musical love)
2. Jerry Cantrell- Hurts, Don't It? (a very sad sounding guitar solo song
3. Nine Inch Nails- La Mer/The Great Below (sublime...)
4. What's Left For Me?- Days of the New (I like the lyrics)
5. Ending Credits- Opeth (obvious reason much?)

exit song:
Learn From This Mistake- Down (obvious reason much again?)

yeah, they're not all metal, what are you gonna do, kill me?

This is my list from the other thread, which sparked the TS to start this thread. I'll give an explanation for each song.

Black Sabbath - Lonely Is the Word: I think we are all born alone, and as Joseph Conrad said, we live as we dream - alone.

Dream Theater - Octavarium: Everyone gets in the daily grind of life and lives in "full circle" every day.

Opeth - Blackwater Park: I don't know about you, but I'm sick of the evil/greed of man.

Judas Priest - Beyond the Realms Of Death: In shutting myself off from the world, i.e. death, I will find peace.

Iron Maiden - Infinite Dreams: "Infinite dreams, I can't deny them." Death is eternal sleep - eternal dreams.

Blind Guardian - And Then There Was Silence: Before we were born, there was silence. After we are dead, there is silence. Life was just an epic battle.

Something like that...

Oh that's cool. Did you formulate the song by then or did you just take the acoustic part and then add it into the song? Because it would've been awesome if you performed the entire Forget Not at the funeral.

Anal Cunt - Your Son Committed Suicide Because You're Gay

now that post was a hell of a lot funnier than all of those I Cum Blood posts you see..

Anyways:

Opeth - Death Whispered A Lullaby
Nightrage - At The Ends Of The Earth
Darkest Hour - With A Thousand Words To Say But One
Zao - A Fall Farewell
Nevermore - The Sound Of Silence

and then while people are leaving (I know, it's not metal but):

Muse - Invincible
#32
Kingdom Come - Manowar
Journeyman - Iron Maiden
Killed by Death - Motorhead
Tired of Being Alive - Danzig
And just because it sounds sad, Before the Dawn - Judas Priest

When their leaving, Go Forth and Die - Dethklok
#33
Doomsword - Sacred Metal
Bathory - Ring of Gold
Blind Guardian - The Eldar
Einherjer - Ballad of the Swords
Primordial - The Gathering Wilderness
Agalloch - ...And the Great Cold Death
Primordial - Journey's End

Acousticy folkish ballads are the way to go. While I burn on a pyre.

And yeah, I used too many songs. I can do what the fuck I want. My life can't be drawn to a close in just 5 songs. Need at least 7 for that.
