so i was in a guitar shop, looking around at guitars and amps and stuff and i ask the guy working there if he can recommend a good amp, and he shows me around and says about one particular amp "this ones good, its got overdrive, you look like someone who uses overdrive"

i just smiled and nodded

but what did he mean by "you look like someone who uses overdrive"?

is that a bad thing?

doesn't sound like a bad thing, but if I was you, I would of said "f*ck off" and spit at them till they left me the hell alone...that's just me though

sounds to me like he was a typical guitar salesman trying to sell a crappy amp to an unsuspecting customer so he could make the best profit possible.

sounds as though he was just judging you, like if i was to wear a t-shirt symbolising a heavy band, he'd probably suggest an amp with lots of distortion.

it's not a bad thing.

Yes, he thinks you sucks.
Come on, if you're wearing a band T-shirt with a band that uses overdrive, it's not that strange.

Bonding sales technique at work :P

Well i mean it could just be his tactic for striking up a convo and then shifting a crappy metal amp to you.

He was coming onto you, it's obvisious!

did he give you the old nudge and wink and then proceed to place one leg on top of the amp and point to this crotch and say, you'll love this big boy! it has plenty of overdrive, you look like the type that love's abit of overdrive...

did he do that?

so by "what did he mean", you are actually asking "what's overdrive?"

Just ask that instead then..

I once had a guy come up to me on the street (when I had long hair) and say to me "I bet you play guitar?" I said "Yep".

He said "I bet your a meatloaf fan?".. "No.."

And he gave me a book about yoga.. He handed it to me, I said "Thanks?" And walked away.. He stopped me, then tried to charge me £2 for it! I just walked off with it.. Still have it somewhere I think.

Man.. Now THAT was off-topic.

lol sorry i just refered to you as a big boy... when infact your a girl...

Sounds to me he's trying to sell an almost standard feature of an amp to an unwitting buyer.

Did he say the distortion was crushing? And did he have a massive beard? >.>
