i was playing guitar and then when i stopped and stretched out my hand to turn off the backing track i felt this short, sharp pain in my picking hand.

now i've felt this before, but never considered it because it only comes sometimes when i play. like once a month if that. but i'm finally concerned enough to ask. heres a pik of where i feel the pain

what could cause this?? plz help

could be a number of things...

most likely tensing up when you are picking faster.

it happened to me alot when i first started playing, and i learned to relax and it stopped the pain

plus masturbation is a good speed builder and it helps cure that pain
