British, kind of vintage too rather than modern.

Thats true, clapton used to have hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of guitars. but then he sold alot of them in the 80s.

But in claptons defense, a few years ago he sold many other guitars in an auction to raise funds for the Crossroads rehab center, in Antigua, Mexico. Anyone can go there and receive free rehab. Clapton is truely a great man.

It's just a different speaker model, but i've never noticed that before.
The amp is still very british sounding.

I'll disagree.... it's more than a different speaker.... one's a head/cabinet and the other is a combo amp... one is closed backed... the other is open backed.
#23
^Yeah, but the voicing of the actual amplifier is still british.

The head is perfect for some AC/DC. You do however have to crank it to get a good tone, so I'm using an attenuator even if it is only 5 watts.

it seems like its only the speaker making it american voiced. if i put a celestion vintage 30 in it would it then be british voiced?

^no it's not the speaker. well...the speaker WILL have a big impact on tone, but it wont chage the voicing of it.

from my understanding, it's the type of tubes that are used and circuitry combined. i may be incorrect but i'm pretty sure it's the combination of tube type and circuit.

power tubes like el84s and el34s are notorious for british voiced amps and 6l6s are popular for american voiced amps.

I use the head with a Marshall 1912 cab. That has a Celestion G12B-150. Great speaker IMO.

Eminence has 2 lines of speakers. Redcoats and Patriots, british and american voicings respectively.

Using american voiced speakers with a british voiced head is used to even out the strong midrange to fatten up the tone some more. Given that it uses EL84 tubes, it's gonna be British voiced.

Opened backed cabinets are known to be used in american voiced amps....
british voicings are usually closed backed.... so changing the speaker isn't necessarily going to change the voicings....

i think tubes will play a big part but even the fender blues jr. uses el-34s
