So I landed this job as the lead guitarist for the university's pep band. Not all sure how, because I'm not a super-stud guitarist, but there in is what I'm asking about. He basically said I could play w/e I want, and just solo as I feel fit (which I'm pretty decent at, sit for sec, figure out a key and improv for half a minute). But he was wonderin if there were any intro's I'd like to learn, just 30 secs or so, nothin beyond that.

Any suggestions on some easy, but can fool non-guitarists into thinkin your a stud, type of songs?

Welcome Home by Coheed and Cambria. It might not work too well as a solo though.

That reminds me....
Back In The Day - Megadeth is another awesome intro because it involves some alt picking as Thunderstruck has.

+ a bajillion. But pinch harmonics only sound REALLY good if you have big hair. if you dont you just look like some twat who can play a bit of guitar.

I reckon Betrayed by A7X. It sounds kinda chunky, and would be a good buildup into a solo. =]
