I am a huge newbie, as my username suggests. My question is, do I need a pedal board to use multiple pedals with 1 guitar and 1 amp?

you dont need it but it keeps you from pulling you pedals as you move and it keeps things a little more organized

So how to a plug 1 guitar into two pedals, and those two pedals into 1 amp? I hypothesize that one guitar cable goes from guitar to pedal #1, then another cable (cable #2) goes from pedal #1 to pedal #2. Then cable #3 goes from pedal #2 into the amp. Is that right?

Or if you're using an effects loop, the effects send would be like the guitar input going to pedal one, and the output from pedal two would go to the effects return.
