Is there a way to.. un-stiff my picking hand? Whenever I shred, or play almost anything my picking hand is almost in a fist. I want a more relaxed picking hand, suggestions?

I don't think it matters if your picking hand is in a fist. But, slow it down alot, play at a speed where you are relaxed, and don't tense or anything. Keep doing it, and speed it up slowly.

try doing does beginning excercises like 123 and 1234 on all strings and practice them slowly with a metronome and increase speed gradually and take a lot of notice of your picking hand. Chords and strumming should also help

All right, just a matter of being relaxed? I can't tell either way, some of the time. I only remember shredding at Guitar Center a couple months ago and this metal guy said I play good, but am tense.
