So, I was thinking. Since I have a POD X3 live and it simulates amps, couldn't I just get a cab and plug it directly into that? or do I need to have an amp as something to power the cab?

for the atomic amp

No, the atomic has a poweramp he would be good to go if he got one. Very good suggestion by the way.
I was referring to the TS's question.

your going to need some sort of amp for the cab...depending on if you gigging or not, a good set of powered studio monitors works awesome

I've used the pedal standalone before, just not through a cab. I didn't know if I could just run it through and stuff.

Do this:
X3L > Power amp of your choice > cab. That's all you need to do. Power amps range from $100-$600 usually.
Epiphone Dot
DIY Esquire w/Neovin Power Rock pickup
Vox AC30VR 212
Arion MTE-1 (LED clipping diodes added)
Vox Tonelab LE
Roland SDE1000 delay

By high-gain I don't mean stupid stuff. I just mean styles like Motley Crue or Iron Maiden

or just get a small head. Crate has the Powerblock, or you can get the Blackheart Killer Ant head when that comes out. or just get a good set of studio monitors like twinturboaudi said.
