www.longplayer.org
saw this on a thread this morning
its pretty ledge
but the basic concept for people who dont wanna read
its this mechanical instrument that is meant to play a song that is meant to last for 1000 years without repetition
using tibetan singing bowls
its been playing for 8 and a half years so far
and still going strong
so check it out it made me lol and think
hmmmm
all at the same time

no one will ever hear the whole thing unless they play back large segments of it simultaneously, which would defeat the purpose.

Heard about it before on here. Still, I think that no one will notice the repeats in it. I mean, who is going to check for 1000 years?

It sucks.
Soon you will sit on the bench
of those who deny I have my soul
You sell a dream you create
Condemned by what you condemned before
Smooth are the words you sing down and high
Underground is your joy your laws

The guinness book of world records official must be having a ****ing nightmare with this one.

It reminds me of Brian Eno's 70 million paintings; a dvd which generates random combinations of images, accompanied by again randomly generated ambient music.

edit:

Brian Eno talking about it:

omg, he's so intelligent
And what is more, there's been a bloody purple nose and some bloody purple clothes that were messing up the lobby floor. It's just apartment house rules so all you 'partment fools remember : one man's ceiling is another man's floor.
