I've been playing guitar around 6 months now. The first two months, I got my lessons from this place and they taught me on chords, barre chords and such. But from the place I get my lessons now, he teaches me more solo kinda stuff like scales, rather than chords. Which one was I suppose to learn first? Which one did you learn first?
Well, chords are usually triads from a scale so it makes more sense to learn the scales first.
i learned how to play fast and cool first, then i went back and learned chords and scales
It's always better to learn all the rhythm work on the guitar before you learn all the lead stuff.
It doesn't really matter. Most guitarists start by learning how to play a few chords to play songs with because they're a very important part of most songs. Scales are important for understanding the theory behind chords and also writing melodies.
