with a 5 string warwick bass, was playing it in a local guitar shop. i mean i dont normally like 5 string basses, but this was just wow. it was a bolt on thumb, about £700 i think, is that a good price for them? it sounded amazing.

edit: i think its second hand, cus theyre £1000 on some websites

Yes, I think it is quite a reasonable price, depending on the condition.

Also, high 5 for having the Spector Legend like me, and another High 5 on loving NWOBHM and thrash, like me!

That's a good deal for a thumb! I'd get it, it might be an older thumb with the old neck profile which is very tasty. Either way it's a good price.

I think you need to stop caring what people think about it. I stayed home all day today and masturbated like 5 times. Fucking blast.

$$s are not cool...there is no situation where a neck humbucker sounds better than a neck J.

smb, I think a neck bartolini humbucker might work better if you're dropping root notes.
or trying to sound softishly indie. or just going for the smooth notes.

now a warwick humbucker, that is quickly and easily defeated by a warwick single.

specify, not everyone will understand you only speak of those bucks.

I wouldn't call what we have here on the Bass Forum a mentality. It's more like the sharing part of an AA meeting.

Like single coil neck pickups better than humbuckers, but I look the look of the $$ much more with the humbucker than a possible single coil.

The only epic thing about the bass forum is Pete Wentz penis. Its Epic. Epic penis.

ATB, you're right, the way the pickups look is much more important.

you get 5 rythym points.

50 more you can special order an E-string.

I disagree. I play for a band that writes and covers smooth jazz to play at restaurants and such and I find the neck humbucker tone to be very useful. Its so thick and warm.

The bolt on Thumbs are a fair bit cheaper than the NTs. about a grand in the UK, anyways.

Now, THIS is the sh*t:

I'm sorry Del but I have to disagree, even though that bass is rather lovely I have to say that THIS... IS THE SEX!

Would keep it pretty much always on the J tho, unless I wanted to use the 'bucker.

Yeahhh, but those Infinities are just the bass I would get if I had a few grand I wanted to invest into a bass, but £2.5k is quite a lot for a single bass, hell you could get a BLOODY good amp for that. Or a Stinger and an Urge II. I personally would get something cheaper but if you want THE SH*T you have to spend a few grand
