Back in the 80's when I was a kid everyone had Series 10, BC Rich Platinum, Westone and Focus guitars. There were also a lot of Epiphone LP copies around.

These were the budget models of the day.

I get to feeling nostalgic sometimes and will search ebay.

These guitars seem to have all vanished.

Series 10 are nowhere to be found. These were everywhere back then. Once in a while I'll see one from the 90's but none of the 80's models - remember the 'Get Your Hands on a 10' ads with the girl in the leather skirt? Maybe it was a dude, it was the 80's it was hard to tell.

BC Rich Platinum - seems to be many recent ones. All the pink, yellow and green Warlocks are gone.

Westone - never see them. Maybe once in a while. Although they sold less then the above from what I remember

A few Focus here and there

Never see any of the Epiphone LPs from then. You do see the Strats with the explorer headstock. Never see the Tele with the explorer headstock

Green warlock?

Yep.

They made about a trillion BC Rich Platinum guitars.

White, Pink, Yellow and floresent green came with black hw, they made a metallic red one that come with gold.

I miss colourful guitars...I was only born in '91, but looking at catalogues and music videos from the 80's and early 90's, I see that all guitars were brightly coloured.

Now you get a choice of glossy or matte black. With black hardware, of course. Whoopee.

Those Hamer Guitarist used by Judas Priest, they were classic!

And some gutiars by Jackson, like the Kellystar.
-------------------------------------------------
- Fender Strat (1988, Japan)
- Epiphone Les Paul (2008, Korea,)
- Epiphone Sheraton (1988, Korea)
- Morgan WG20GEN (2003, Norway)
and some stuff non-used stuff for sale/trade in the Netherlands

I only remember Judas Priest with Gibson. A V and a SG

Glen and KK were always great.

I'm looking forward to the tour this summer.

The new "metal" bands out there are a joke.

The downtuned subwoofer chugga chugga players are nothing compared to The Priest

Also, no cookie monster Fred Durst wannabe is as badd azz as ROB HALFORD the METAL GOD

Shergold guitars.

Straight from the 70s though.

I played one, it was like guitar porn.

ESP Gus G model? Dean ML? Charvel Star? Jackson Warrior? Ibanez Xiphos? BC Rich Ironbird?

....actually, I see your point. They're expensive bastards.

The Squier 51 was discontinued VERY recently, you could pick one up on ebay, you'd probably be able to find one or two in some shops.

I'm lucky enough to have found and bought one of these about 9 months ago:

Fender Cyclone. It was discontined at the beginning of 2007, i got mine toward the end of 2007. I think it only got discontinued because there weren't enough rock stars flashing them everywhere. I think John Frusciante had the orange coloured cyclone and a matching toronado at one point (also discontinued, afaik), but thats about it. Mine is the obnoxious "graffiti yellow".
I like analogue Solid State amps that make no effort to be "tube-like", and I'm proud of it...

...A little too proud, to be honest.

Those Cyclones and the other shortscale ones that went with it are great^ They have all three in the guitar store here!

I had a Telecaster Plus, if you're talking about the model with the dual red lace in the bridge. Mine was ash and a blue -> black burst. I believe it may have been the plus deluxe, the plus being a standard body.

Very heavy guitar and ugly as sin by today's standards. Sounded great. Dave Davies plays these for years now.

Squier 51 = biggest POS guitar with the biggest internet buzz. I have one that I put a Gibson humbucker in the bridge, an orange drop and sperzels. Sounds like crap and isn't all that special to play.

I played it maybe 45 minutes since I had. I believed the hype and wasted 100 on it. Sits in a closet. Save your money.

They do look cool though

The cyclone looks like something I would not play much. I have a 65 Mustang (original) that I got for really cheap a while back and never play it.

The point of this thread was just all the brands I remember as a kid seem to have vanished from the earth.

i remember at least 30 kids who had the models i listed and tey were in all the shops, etc... just odd there are none on the bay

That Kramer you're talking about was the Gorky Park model.

The fact that I remember Gorky park makes me feel old.

Remember when VH, Bon Jovi and the lot flew over to Russia for the Gorkey Park Rock Festival thing?

That Kramer was a giveaway @ Kramer dealers as a promo item back then.

I think it was the monsters of rock model or something.

My First guitar was a Westone Spectrum was an excellent first guitar, I sold it to buy my Gibson SG. I had a look to see if I could find one on e-bay, I found one exactly the same as my old one, but it was £150.00, a little overpriced considering I only paid £199.99 for mine new. Also you don't see many Vantage Guitars around anymore.

Regards
Delboy

i forgot about Vantage.

I had a brand called 'Hondo' they made a decent looking (horrible playing/sounding) Les Paul double cut special knockoff in cherry.

Remember Memphis guitars?

Oh I totally forgot, I saw one of the Bright green warlocks in a video and still want it. but probably gonna have to have it painted.
#28
the cheapo ones I remember were the Platinum models that cost about 300.00 back then.

The USA models were rare - although they are now on ebay all the time.

The NJ models were around a bit.

Oh man, I was gonna get one of those as my first guitar, but my SG came along at a price I couldn't refuse. If only cyclones had a maple fretboard I'd be all over getting one of those.
