ive got:

  • microphone X2
  • a microphone slot in my computer
  • audacity
  • all the right connections

but when i record onto audacity, it comes out as nothing, or a very quiet sound.

do i need something to amplify the sound?

and i can hear the mic working through my guitar amp (if i plug it in), but when i connect the mic slot to the headphones slot on the amp, it goes silent in audacity

the best way to describe this is:

MIC------lead---------AMP = good, can hear

MIC-----lead----------AMP-------Computer (audcity) = bad, can hear bugger all

MIC -----lead --------computer = meh, can hear, but not very well

help me please, pit

Must if they break for me, better sounds come from the way you play more-so than the strings.

Is it set to the right input?

Are the levels all turned up?

Have you got something you could use as a preamp?

it may be that you have a poor sound card
most computers sound cards aren't very good for recording so if i were you i would check into updating or replacing your sound card

That gives you rank of -10 out of 10. You fail. Go play the flute.
