I have a few melodies, but I can't figure out how to get a chord progression to go with it that sounds good. But, I don't really know what I'm doing. Any help please?

If you have a recording device of any kind (even a video camera or cheap mic) send me a clip of the melodies. I could try to help. What I tend to do is just play around with what I like. Generally, if your using lyrics; what I would do is put the lyrics in front of me and put the chords above the words where it changes. Then you can remember which one you used and try to find another chord that will be fitting next. Generally chord progressions are fairly simple to create. Also depends what type of music. If its acoustic type of music, it should be simple. Metal or something, perhaps a bit more complex if you want it to be.

I don't have any chords yet. It's just a few licks using G# minor scale. I don't have any lyrics yet either, dunno if I'll have any. Depends how it works out.
