I am thinking of gettin some pickup covers for my pickups on my epi les paul studio, but I was wondering if they will change my tone at all.

not really, mite lower the output a bit, but i wouldnt be too worried about subtleties like that with stock epi pickups

Plastic covers or metal?
Plastic shouldnt do anything

a lot of threads like these have been done before.
but i think if you put chrome, nickel or gold covers, you have to wax it then solder it at the pickup. (im not sure though) possibly, it could change your tone.

not quite sure, but i assume it depends on how the metal is effected by magnetism, because if it is it might take away some of the output
