Did a quick search (Very quick mind you) and didnt see anything so i figured i'd post this up.

Im usually up to date on guitars but when browsing the ibanez website i came across this. Looks like current production Ibanez RG770.

Large image time.

Seems to be like the re-issue RG550's except a 770 model. And not limited production? I cant find anything on these new guitars. Original edge too.

In my opinion they would have been awesome and a godsend if the fretboard inlays weren't the same colour as the body and the body colour came in white and black (With maple fretboard still). Also i dis-like the knobs being the same colour as the body aswell.

Other than that I'm extremely happy with these. Anyone got a price? Any other info? They look sweet.

I'm pretty sure they're limited editions, but the 770's were godly...pity they haven't re-issued the sexy violet metallic ones though

Yup, limited production run

I wonder how long they'll be in production? If for about a year and its around $2000 Australian i can get it. Known crappy Aus though it'll be $2500-$3000 like the high end prestiges are here.

Wow. Major GAS right now...

I was *that* close to buying one, but wasn't too keen on the clear pickguard so got the 550DX instead....if I could have had that body with the 770's neck I'd have been a very happy bunny indeed.

Not really - it's a Japanese made RG, their playability isn't remotely in doubt.

well the knobs could be replaced easily, other than that they do look quite sexy (and i usually dont like Ibanez)
#12
A contrasting pick guard would rock. Black would be nice i think, or some other dark colour to contrast the blue/red. Change the knobs to white or black and its set.

Anyone got any prices?

If ibanez knows whats good for them, they'll keep these out for production for a solid year.

OMG EDIT:
Screw the 770. I foudn my dream IBBY!!!. I absolutly love white RG550's with a maple headstock. Now there are no current ones in production. Closest is the RG2550Z in white but it has a rosewood fretboard.

While surfing Ishibashi i came across the RG2450MZ. Basically exact same as the RG2550Z. except MAPLE FRETBOARD (Gas, gas, gas?! YES!)

Its also a new production, seemingly Japan only. Unsure if its limited or not. judging by the site stating "Ibanez/ SPOT production appearance of model who uses Maple fingerplate for RG2550Z of number limitation. The reservation is being received now a small amount of undecided delivery date for production. " Could go both ways. Hopefully its still up next year.

Ha! Its old news, I saw it a while back at the JCF forums. I remember Paul Gilbert used to endorse these before he got his signature model. For 1987 these were the top of the line RG series, its great to see them back.
#23
To me, the RG770 looks really tacky.

I mean, look at those inlays!

Word.

A friend of mine in HS had one of these with a 3A flame maple neck. It played like an Ibanez [which isn't a compliment coming from me], but the guitar itself was absolutely stunning.

RG550EX.

Made in 2000.

Basswood body with silversand finish.

Super Wizard neck with ROSEWOOD FRETBOARD.

Granted, it does kick ass but maple is much better IMO!

Before y'all tell me to leave, I'd like to point out that I came into this thread cos I'm interested in new guitars, but that doesn't necessarily imply that I completely cream my jeans over Ibanez RG's.

I kinda wish these guitars weren't so expensive and came as hardtail versions aswell, although the trem is pretty much one of the most important features, so I have a lot to hope for.
#32
The only real option for the RG2450 in a hardtail is the PGM301. Killer guitar also.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

Yup...the DX is the one with the maple fretboard

Ibanez bringing these kind of models back is long overdue, but they should definitely be full production models. There's only so many different shades of black you can take!
