first of all, those are not "chords",just an interval of fifth..
the way i see it,down pick every thing on the first bar, alternate the second one..

erm...root + fifth = a chord

I`d say either turn up the gain or down pick like youve never downpicked before!

erm no...root+third+fifth=chord.
however, being a theory elitist does not help him, for all you know maybe the bass is voicing the third and there all first inversion chords. Perhaps a higher voice is voicing the third?
TS: is it possible its all supposed to be downpicked instead of alternated?

definition of chord: at least 3 DIFFERENT notes played together.
im just sick of that,i ask sometimes people what chords they know, and the say:
"oh you know,E5,D4.." someone even told me about B3 .. lol

anyway, back to topic, just try to downpick it all if you can,if not do what i said
