ok, so im wanting a more hardcore suited guitar w/ EMGs so im looking at a Schecter Hellraiser & ESP EC-1000..my question though is...which one do you think would be better? i know that emgs are much different than passive pups, but which guitar would be more versatile? wondering since the ec has 60/81 & the hellraiser has 85/81

ive been wanting a hellraiser for a looooong time, but for some reason im leaning more towards the ec-1000 because of the les paul feel & toggle switch, also the vintage black in this guitar looks BAD!!!!

but i still dont know

versatility is key..i go from playing everything from maylene & the devil wears prada to christian rock or taking back sunday

Those two are very similar, I'd say try both and see which one fits you best.

Although the EC has a more 'traditional' feel to it.

hmmm, what do you mean by traditional?

oh btw..chances are ill be buying without playing.. (ebay or online forum)

Always go into a shop and play on them.... then buy online.

I'd say hellraiser, love that guitar

The biggest difference is neck thickness

Hellraise is thick as a log and EC is thin as an Ibanez

The feel and sound is warmer, more traditional whereas (I find) the schecter is more modern and aggressive.

Also the fretboard on the EC is VERY non-flat (if i remember correct)

so the EC will wear-out quicker on the fretboard?

No, I just mean it has a larger radius (it's 'rounder' if you will)

I'd say go with the Hellraiser. They're the most most versatile, they have EMG 81W/89 now you know, those have coil tap. And I think they feel better over all IMO.

the hellraiser comes with 81/89's this year and coil tapping..i like my hellraiser but wouldnt mind an ec-1000....try both out...but also check out the blackjack atx with seymour duncan blackouts

esp esp dam schecter and the Avenged sevenfold endorses

Lol, A7X sucks arse, but that doesn't mean Schecters suck. A Hellraiser is the best guitar you can buy for that money if you play more extreme types of music.

hmm, yeah i have wanted a hellraiser for a while..

actually itll probably just depends on how good a deal i can get..

whichever one i can get for around $475 ima get

I would personally go with whichever one you find nicest, because the specs are really similar and both guitars are of pretty much the same quality (great guitars). Pickups can always be changed anyways...

Im a die hard ESP fan. Even the LTD models in the 1000 range are up to par with some ESP's. Then again, I just hate shecters because ever other 13 year old a7x wanna-be gets a shecter.

The ESP is a better guitar i think.
^^^ and why put a 85 in the neck?
the 60 will be wayyyyyyyy batter for any cleans.
and the 81 for the bridge will take care of anything heavy.

Hey, f u, I listen to Tjuder, Blodsrit, Drudkh and Setherial, and I'm getting a Hellraiser. I don't think you even know what bands those are.

get the esp coil tapping isnt as good as everyone makes out, i was playing a guitar with coil tap today, and when i tapped a load of ambient hum just starts and it just sounds worse, plus the esp is better quality and there is more wood in the body so its a much better tone

More wood in the body? wat. Anyway, the Schecters I've played didn't have that hum problem, I could get some really good clean sound with the coil tap.

the ec body shape has more volume then the schecter body shape so therefore more wood is required to make it.

and i just remembered the coil tap i was playing today was passive so the activenes in the 89 should make it not hum, so yeah ignore my thing about the hum.

It depends on which neck you like better and what body style you like.

Both are great guitars.

Yeah I guess it's a bit bigger.
And yes both are good guitars. Test both and see which one you like the most.
I love ESP but in this case I'd go for the Hellraiser.
