I have a crappy little practice amp that doesnt seem to be working so well. I have remedied the solution for a little while but lost my tone in the process. when my guitar is plugged into the amp, it makes this horrible crunching noise over the note if i pick at the normal strength at which i pick. the only way i can stop this is picking very lightly. does anyone know what the problem might be?

BTW, im broke so buying a new is not an option

It might be a problem with your cord, the wires may be loose inside it, or it just might be a really ****ty amp, or the speaker in the amp might be busted, could be pickup problems in your guitar but i highly doubt that. what kind of amp and guitar are you using?
