Is it common or helpful for one to record themselves playing? I could see if you are working on original material, but if you are practicing cover songs is this useful? If so anyone like the one you got? I heard Olympus makes the better ones....

I don't see any point in it for cover songs, only reason I can see recording yourself is for remembering something you've written.

It's easier to just hook a mic up to your computer, tbh.

Handheld recorders are useful though; I just don't think they're that great for recording one's playing on.
